Do we all need food?

Of course we do. If not, we will die.

Does everyone have enough to eat?

No. Some people in countries like:

• Latin-America

• Africa

• Asia

Do not have enough to eat.

Why?

• Because some of them:

• Do not have enough money

• Do not have ways of improving their soil

• Have war in their countries

• Have too little or too much water

But does the whole world have enough food for everyone?

Yes.

So, why can’t the countries that have enough, give some to those who do not?

Because:

• The poorer countries do not have enough money to buy food from the richer ones.

• They also can’t afford to buy seeds, machines and fertilizers needed to grow food.

• The richer countries are able to sell their food cheap, making it hard for the poorer countries to make money by selling their food.

What can you do to help?

• Try not to waste food.

• Ask your parents to support people who are collecting money to help people who do not have enough food.

• Buy food that is made in your country to save on money as well as energy spent on transport.

Remember….

We all need food, so let us all help everyone have an equal share of it!
