What is your environment?
It includes everything that surrounds you, including:
Other people
Animals
Plants
Water
Air
Earth
Are we harming our environment?
Yes we hurt it at times. This makes it dirty.
How do we make it dirty?
We pollute the air and cause Global Warming.
Because of this:
The way in which the clouds are arranged in the sky can change.
The weather can be different to what we are used to.
The waves in the sea can become scary.
Plants and animals can die
Another way in which the air can be made dirty is by farmers not being careful with the way they use:
Animal feed, which can be washed into streams, rivers and lakes.
Machines that give out gases that can harm the air.
Because of this:
Plants and animals living in the water can die.
The air we breathe is dirty, which can make us sick.
The number and the different types of living things living in a place (Biodiversity) are being changed by us. We do this by:
Changing our surroundings and so hurting the animals and plants living together in an area.
Letting some animals and plants hurt other living things by allowing them to live together.
Too much hunting.
Because of this, we might not have enough:
Medicine
Food
Material
Spoiling the soil that lets animals and plants, live and travel by:
Cutting trees.
Making too many buildings.
Having too many animals on a farm.
Because of this:
There will be less farm land - this means that we will have less food.
We will not have nice shady areas for picnics and fun!
Harmful Waste that cause water to be unclean from:
Industries
Weapons
Because of this:
We, together with plants and animals can become very sick.
Dirtying areas close to beaches because of more:
Buildings in the area, increasing the sewage that goes into the water.
Visitors who come even from other countries to enjoy the beaches.
Because of this:
The beautiful coral reef and other animals and plants in the water can be damaged as they will not get enough light.
What can we do to help?
Use less energy which burns up fossil fuels - use your car less when possible.
Help plant trees.
Try to keep the area around you clean and safe by keeping away anything that can harm your surroundings.
Ask your parents to help you take care of your environment.

By taking care of your environment, both you and I can save a lot of people, animals and plants as well as making it a beautiful place for us all to live in.
